HOWARD FINKELSON


Howard Finkelson has photographed everywhere from jungles to junkyards, sidewalks to sand dunes.....In 20 years of photographing, his work includes unexpected images from Jersey City to  Afghanistan, Ulster County to south-east Asia.
His interest in the spiritual and philosophical combines with his careers as urban planner and photographer.
He is a constant observer of the environment, natural and unnatural, photographing images neglected by others.
For Finkelson ,the ongoing exploration of the texture of our planet is the core of his art. His work appears in exhibitions and theater productions here and abroad.

Artist Howard Finkelson creates a palette of form, texture and color,a
world between painting and photography.By isolating portions ofreality,his photo/abstracts, shape a totally new image; an abstraction that captures the structural essence of the world around us.
"In eastern philosophy everything contains the seed of its opposite an this is what I found in my work" says Finkelson."Concreteness closely examined contains or becomes infinite space, unfolds an eternal mystery, a timeless sense.  Form itself has formlessness and solids are also  void spaces.  Objects are as much space and energy and movement, as they are form."
